MICHIE WONG

About the Artist

Michie Wong's photography portrays her love of beauty and composition, depicting images that draw the eye to the interplay of light, color and shadow. Her experiences with vivid scenic and historical sites along with unique flora and fauna provide inspiration and fuel her passion as a photographer.

The foundations of Michie's design aesthetics were supported while earning a degree in Product Design from San Francisco State university, and later as a design team member at Aviva Sports. She continues to build technical expertise by attending workshops and classes, and through memberships with the North American Nature Photographers Association, BirdPhotographers.net and other photography networking organizations. As a native San Franciscan, her photographic artwork is currently shown and collected around the Bay Area.

Artist Statement

My images are meant to provide the mind with a resting place, an "Aha!" moment, or a chance to question 'beauty'. I like the idea of bringing forth natural images that on first glance might appear unremarkable, but by working the perspective and watching the light, I am able to create an alluring image. I love a good paradox. Sometimes I want to show intense color - or choose the austerity of no color at all. I am always working to draw others' eyes to what I see: beauty in both the expected and unexpected. It's an infinite journey - a constant search for inner light.
